Valorant 22: Mentality
I felt that I nailed aiming mechanics for so many times, I realized that I need to combine a whole bunch of hard skills together.
Firstly, I need to imagine enemies where they might peek out from, until I push ( then imagine where they are holding) and face my body in that direction. This is the baseline mentality (plus some crosshair placement). I talk about it here.
In situations when I am afraid of being out in the open for very long, I will try the strafe clearing for a very tight peek window. I talked about it here.
If I am holding an angle, I should employ the “catching people on my crosshair” mentality that I talk about here.
When flicking close range, I need to go back to trying to face my body towards them.
In long fights, I need to focus on strafing my crosshair to their head, but I don’t know if I have a video showing that.
I suppose one thing I haven’t figure out is crouch spraying, but I’m willing to bet facing them is good too.
Finally, overall, I need to learn to accept death as I talk about here.
I think there are two mindsets in Valorant, aggressive and passive. I still haven’t figured out the right balance between the two, but part of what helps me with that is using the “letting the energy carry the action” mentality I talk about here.
Knee Mobility Challenge: Unit 1 Day 1
Unit 1: Mobility | Day 1 – Surface Tissues
Because I was traveling and these exercises relaxed me immensely, I fell asleep very quickly after this. I ended up doing more of these exercises in the morning after. Myofascial release seems to target ligaments, muscles, and fascial which kinda makes sense, but today (13th). Today I will switch over to increasing mobility in the tendons and ligaments, so I wonder what will happen today that will be different.
Profit in Peace 12: Peace Disrupted
My peace today was disrupted by work early. It is nice to have time to talk about strategic leadership things. I usually don’t have that much time during the week.
However, it’s not the type of morning that I aim to repeat.
I intend on reclaiming as much peace as I can in this 20 minute span.
I feel that respect is a really important need for me in work, and I feel that this need was not met at my previous job, it remains to be seen whether or not it is met enough in this job. I have my doubts to be sure.
Today, I woke up feeling much better, even though I went to bed a bit late. It’s because, on top of journaling, I also did cupping on my body to unblock anything that was blocked. Turned red on my chest, I guess a lot of blockages there specifically.
I feel with the level of stress this morning with no peace and no running I’m feeling surprisingly good.
I wonder how to push back on blatant hostility and disrespect in a way that I want to. I suppose some rage journaling should help and maybe my coaching mindset.
Today I want to focus on making a video on how to handle lack of respect in the workplace.
I don’t know how that is going to go but that’s what I want to do.
Perhaps I need to meditate on it some more.
Maybe finally watching another 20 minutes of the coaching call will be nice as well.
Profit in Peace 20: Boundaries
I was thinking today about boundaries and needs, and how I’m starting to work on recognizing them. I’ll add a new one to the list:
- Honesty – truth is important
- Empathy – emotions are important
- Respect – it is important to be valued and value others
- Time – control over your time and space
- Possibility – belief anything is possible
- Health – lifestyle is important
Needs are interesting, because I think boundaries are used to protect needs. I’m not entirely sure whether or not these are needs or boundaries. I also don’t know if they are values. In doing a little more research it seems that some people would consider these values, not needs. Maybe I should switch up my terminology.
In any case, health is a value that I recently added to incorporate my dedication to sleep, digestion, and exercise all in the service of feeling happy, strong, and energetic (for the long run).
I also recently thought about possibility. The most often neglected of all my values/needs but I feel equally important. I realized recently that possibility is what drives solutions. Boundaries are important, but communicating them, enforcing them, often requires compromise and communication. And what helps with that is the feeling of possibility.
Recently, I was feeling resentful of my parents not wanting me to go to a social gathering with friends. I felt it was violating my boundary around health (mental health), empathy (where they would value my emotions) and honesty (I did not feel like I could be honest about any of this).
However, I didn’t know what to do because I respect their boundaries around health might be a bit different from mine. Being older and frailer, they were more worried about my health and their own. I know that I cannot protect them from getting sick, but I felt increasingly stressed.
The possibility value came into play when I thought about how anything is possible. I started to think about how I could meet my need for emotional health in different ways, for example, talking more to my friends and meeting more of them (in a more one on one setting) that would potentially reduce and control the risk to my parents. At the same time I still see possibilities in meeting up with my friends working out as possibility is always there.
Health Checkup 10/25/2021
I feel worried about posting about this topic since it can be kind of gross.
However, I feel that physical health is one of the most important things to understand in life as it controls your energy levels, affects your mental strength, and dramatically affects your physical attractiveness or beauty.
Tracking and problem solving my health issues will not only help me but may provide inspiration for others.
Digestion
Symptoms: bloating, gas, diarrhea, distended belly, sensitivity to cold, stress, and exhaustion
Brainstorm:
- Raw ginger – seems to add an overall boost to blood flow (yang qi) and stomach circulation
- Farmhouse Culture Gut Shots – tastes absolutely disgusting, feels like it may actually help
- Unlocking/moving/stretching hips – ever since my knee injury, my hips are tight and contribute to the blockage in my stomach
- Stomach massage – helps smooth out the knots and blockage points
- Increase overall circulation – qi gong, running and cardio all help increase overall circulation and remove blockages overall
- Activate digestion while eating – eat slower and smell food more
- Eat less – to 70% fullness
Current Focus:
I need to improve my baseline before going after a specific treatment plan. The baseline will focus on two basic areas: overall circulation, reducing strain. The goals need to be very small so they are easy to maintain.
- Circulation – eat ginger every morning, run around the block once every morning (minimum 5 min)
- Reducing strain – focus on eating as little as possible, meditate once in the morning and night (minimum 5 min)
Hair
Symptoms: thin hair (but seems to be thickening), itchy scalp, hair falling out, dandruff
Very strange that my hair is thickening but falling out at the same time. Pretty sure my massage is working but the new hair growing in is so thin it falls out easily.
Brainstorm:
- Vigorous scalp massage – increase blood flow and already thicken hair a great deal
- Wash hair – more often, with cold water and apple cider vinegar if possible to reduce inflammation and increase circulation
- Oil/fatty acids – use huge amounts of conditioner and castor oil to thicken hair and prevent breaking and falling out
Current Focus:
I need to cleanse and increase circulation
- Wash hair every day with cold water and apple cider vinegar, need to use lots of conditioner to counter the stripping effect of washing your hair too much
Knee (injury)
Symptoms: afraid to put pressure or impact, no feeling at surgery area, pain
Brainstorm:
- More movement – motion is lotion to the joints
- Increased muscle mass around the joint – muscle is needed to support the joint
- Gua sha – need to tear up the scar tissue around the area and increase blood flow
- Warmup/loosen hips – hips are too tight reducing range of motion
Current focus:
I need more circulation
- Gua sha (or graston) for at least 5 min per day
Posture and Alignment
Symptoms: jutting forward head, misaligned hips, shoulders rounded forward
Brainstorm:
- Cobra yoga pose – let the hips relax into better balance
- Wall posture exercises – strengthen back muscles
- Foam roller stretch – stretch chest muscles
- Practice standing/walking – try to establish perfect alignment
- Move joints more – joints are where everything attaches, moving the joints mean more relaxed and fluid movement
Current focus:
I need to see a chiropractor and also just slightly improve posture while doing things bad for posture (computer, phone):
- Find a chiropractor within my health insurance
- Focus on finding a comfortable way to look at the phone with head back (put your phone on your knees)
Vision
Symptoms: dry eyes, headaches (happens not very often), worsening vision
Brainstorm:
- Relax into looking farther – stretches eye muscles
- Move vision more – gets the eye muscles to work a little more
- Do more active sports – forces your eyes to focus on things moving and far away
- Blink more – resets the eyes
Current Focus:
I want to just relax my eyes more when looking at far away things, rather than trying to move closer.
Knee Strength 10: Boxing
I did boxing class today, and felt amazing afterwards, but my knee did not feel good so I put on a brace immediately.
Some more thoughts:
My inner thigh is definitely tight and can use some body work and I wonder if that is causing me to move it a way that hurts my knee.
Fantastic point. Need to keep the knees over the toes. They connect because of inner thigh tightness it makes it harder to keep knees over toes.
Some more ideas when it comes to kicking.
This seems really helpful. Pointing your knee at the target.
